About Flips and Twists

The idea for Twists and Flips was born a few years ago when my daughter began her cheerleading journey. We thought, "Wouldn't it be great to have a place where she could train outside of her gym, just like her brother had for baseball, football, and basketball?" A place where she could focus on her personal growth and bring that progress back to her gym and team. It started as a simple idea, then as we traveled, we noticed similar facilities in other states, and the dream began to take shape. As a teacher, I’ve always loved helping kids grow and reach their goals. Watching my daughter navigate the ups and downs of cheerleading inspired me to create a space where young athletes could receive the support they need. She had always loved tumbling—she seemed to spend more time tumbling than walking! But suddenly, the girl known for her tumbling strength developed a mental block and became afraid to go backward. Despite the supportive environment at her gym, she felt the weight of potentially letting down her teammates and herself. Every day, she walked into the gym determined to tumble again, but it just didn’t happen. To help her, we arranged private lessons at home with a coach. Word spread, and soon friends were joining in. Eventually, we installed a spring floor in our yard, and over 50 girls were coming to our house to work on their skills. With such overwhelming interest, we decided to take the next step and open a facility where classes and private lessons could be accessible to everyone. At Twists and Flips, we don’t have teams—we focus solely on the individual athlete and their goals as a cheerleader. You might want to clean up your skills for your current team, work on higher-level skills for future teams, or simply learn for fun. Whether you’re just starting in cheer or are a veteran looking to brush up on skills, we’re dedicated to supporting you without the pressure.
